Sausage Pizza

Sausage Pizza

Ingredients

8 – 10 button mushrooms, stemmed and sliced in half
Olive oil
6 EH chicken bratwursts, cut into pieces
Dried crushed red pepper
1 cup purchased marinara sauce or store bought pasta sauce
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
8 fresh basil leaves (optional)
1 naan bread or pizza bread base (store bought)

 
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Brush mushrooms with oil; arrange rounded side down on baking sheet. Bake mushrooms until almost tender, about 8 minutes. Maintain oven temperature.

Slice the sausages into equal size pieces. Sauté sausage in medium skillet over medium-high heat until brown and cooked through, for about 6 minutes. Using slotted spoon, remove sausage from skillet.

Take the pita/pizza bread base and apply the pasta sauce then top it with the sausage, mushrooms and the cheese. Additionally, you can top the pizza with crushed red pepper.

Bake mushroom pizzas until heated through, about 10 minutes. Top each with basil leaf, if desired.
